Day 14

Blog Post #15 – January 14th, 2020

I decided to pack my lunch today.  It was easier than I thought. I just packed some salad, fruit, a water, a packet of almond butter, and a power bar.  Probably not the most healthy meal but It held me over. My case was the only one set at 11 so I would have had to eat by myself at a fast food place anyway so it worked out fine.  I do not know if I could do it on another day where I have more hearings and files to deal with.

I checked in with Judge Gargotta.  His son’s birthday was this past weekend.  He and his wife took the family out to a movie and dinner.  He said they had used up all of their entertainment money with that one outing.  He usually likes to go out to eat lunch to take a break from the office. He said he had cooked several meals on Sunday to have lunches for the week.  But they were not brave enough yet to tackle the instapot his wife had gotten for Christmas. The guys from the NPR show Mild Street made a cookbook for the instant pot maybe next month they can get it to try new recipes.

His wife does not work outside the home.  Her socializing involves having lunch out with family and organizations.  We talked about how if she was not able to continue this activity, she could feel isolated in the future.  I applaud her for going along with this experiment.

My husband is a grill master and enjoys smoking on his big green egg.  He does not buy meat at the local grocery store he goes to specialty butcher shops and “meat artisans” to get the perfect cut of meat.  Needless to say we have not had any smoked meat this year. He is thinking about doing a smoked meatloaf on the big green egg this weekend which could fit within the budget.  He is planning a big bar b q for Super Bowl Sunday.
